Board members in attendance: President, Matt Farrago, V.P. Henny Wallitsch, Bobby Bartel, Bob Duffy, Tommy Gallagher, Henry Hascup, Johnny Breitenbruck, Paulette Balog, and Joe Dwyer.

The following items were discussed:

2. Budd Schulberg was recently admitted to the hospital which changed our date for meeting with him and giving him our “Lifetime Achievement Award.” This will be rescheduled in the near future when Budd Schulberg is feeling better.

3. Jules Feiler, our public relations representative, got Ring 8 mentioned in a story on Budd Schulberg coming out this Sunday the 26th in the NY Times.

4. Riddick Bowe and Larry Holmes will hopefully be our guests at our Holiday party. Three locations are being considered at this time.

5. A Ring 8 board member has regretfully stepped down due to personal comittments. Frank Pena was asked and has accepted to fill the position. Congratulations and thank you, Frank.

6. The “By-Laws” are in the process of being revised with the recommendations of the Board of Directors and the guidance of our Attorney at Law, Keith Sullivan.

7. Our guest speaker was Wallace Matthews who did a fantastic job talking about his position at Newsday and sharing with us his views on boxing. Many compliments were extended afterwards for having such an interesting speaker.

8. Our second guest speaker was Joe Rollino, who is pictured above. Joe is 104 years old, a former fighter, and remarkably speaks as well as someone half his age. He can probably lick most guys a quarter his age. He gave us a true account of some of boxings most infamous fighters and times when boxing was at its best. Joe Rollino, Ring 8 applauds you for your accomplishments and longevity. You are always welcome to come back as our honored guest.

9. Our next meeting will be at O’Neill’s Restaurant, Tuesday, Aug 18, 2009, at 7:00pm..
Board of Directors will meet at 6:00pm.
