Up-Coming Ring 8 Events PLUS Donations That Was Given Out!

Up Coming Events:
Sunday, August 18th – Our annual Ring 8 picnic is being held At Brady Park, Massapequa Park (Nassau County). Noon to dusk.

Tuesday, September 17th – Our next regular meeting at ONeill’s Rest in Maspeth, Queens.

Thursday, October 17th – Our monthly meeting will be held at the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant.

Donations:
Also, in the last few months Ring 8 has made several LARGE donations that have helped several boxing people in need, including helping pay for a funeral for an Ex-World Champion, we helped out a former 2 time World Champion that needed help with a car and insurance, we made a donation for scholarships that was awarded to Amateur boxers who want to continue their education by going to college, helped out a former fighter who’s family needed help with his financial needs, and just recently made another large donation to the family of super lightweight contender Maxim “Mad Max” Dadashev who passed away after his bout last week.

Once again, RING 8 is making a difference and living up to it’s motto of “Boxers Helping Boxers!”

The Board of Directors of Ring 8 VBA is hoping you are enjoying the summer sun. 

A few reminders to be aware of:

Our next regular meeting of Ring 8 will be held on Tuesday  Sept. 17, 2019 at ONeill’s Rest in Maspeth, Queens.
More meeting information will be posted as that date becomes closer.

The FDNY Boxing team will be taking on the Ireland Police Squad at St Camillus Church grounds in Far Rockaway on July 12th.

Thursday, June 20th – Ring 8 meeting at Plattdeutsch Park Restaurant, Guest Speaker Al LoBianco —– Sunday, August 18th – Ring 8 Picnic

Ring 8 is proud to have Al LoBianco as our guest speaker on Thursday June 20th, 2019. Al is a active pro referee for the NYS AC and has been the third man in the ring on numerous occasions in the New York Metropolitan area and Connecticut. A well respected referee by the boxing community, he will be on hand to talk about his career and tell us what it was like growing up the son of boxing’s top referees in boxing history. Johnnie LoBianco refereed almost 30 years, and oversaw Championship matches Shavers-Ali, Folley-Ali, Duran-Buchanen, Foster-DePaula, Torres-Pastrano and many others.

One of Johnnie’s last bouts was Tyson-Gross in 1986. The legendary ref was Inducted into the New York State Boxing HOF this past April and his son, Al, accepted his Induction Belt that day.
Al is a long time resident in Suffolk County and a Proud member of Ring 8 VBA.

The Ring 8 Bd Of Directors and Membership would like to Congratulate our recording secretary and President of the New Jersey Boxing HOF, Henry Hascup on his Induction into the Atlantic City Boxing HOF this coming Sunday June 23rd at the Claridge Hotel on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. A great honor to a man who himself as Honored numerous Boxing Legends over the years in the NJ Boxing HOF. and who has given much of himself to the boxing game over that time.
