Dr. Jerry Lynn talked on a place that will do it for nothing.

Jack Hirsch introduced our guest speaker, Steve Farhood. Steve opened up by thanking Ring 8 for helping so many boxers over the years. He talked on Roger Donoghue, and how he brought up some of Roger’s old fight films to the Nursing Home that he was in. Donoghue taught Marlon Brando how to box.

Let the fun begin. Steve listed his top 10 heavyweights, 10) Mike Tyson 9) Gene Tunney 8) George Foreman 7) Lennox Lewis 6) Larry Holmes 5) Jack Dempsey 4) Rocky Marciano 3) Jack Johnson 2) Joe Louis 1) Muhammad Ali.

He then listed his top 10 all-time pound for pound. 10) Ezzard Charles 9) Sugar Ray Leonard 8) Benny Leonard 7) Roberto Duran 6) Joe Louis 5) Harry Greb 4) Willie Pep 3) Muhammad Ali 2) Henry Armstrong 1) Sugar Ray Robinson.

Many members differed but I don’t know 2 boxing historians that would agree on a top 10 in any weight class, so I give Steve a lot of credit for listing his out their for all to see.

Two people from a cable company filmed this general meeting and one of them was the son of former welterweight contender Tony Pellone.

For you trivia buffs, can you tell me what his father did that no other boxer in history ever done?

In June the guest speaker will be Bruce Silverglade of Gleason’s Gym and Gabe Perillo Jr.
